Can Anyone Give Me A Tut For Coding A Template?

Hey guys...I've been making templates for a while and just slicing them in imageready and calling it good...Is this the best way to turn a template into a website? I'm after most efficient website and not the quickest way to do it...Is there some better way to code a template in HTML/CSS? Thanks

 

I also could use a tutorial. Please dont just say to go to google and search or anything..

You dont have to use notepad you can use dreamweaver as well, this is a deep tutorial make sure you know a good bit about HTML & CSS.
