Good, fathom, and me seem synonymous.

 

Alright, just replace the word "pro" in my post with anything else derivative of what a few of the fathom members who are swamping this thread are saying--- aka "people who think they're better than pretty much everyone else". I've seen a lot of pompous attitudes in this thread so far, and I don't know what that's trying to prove. Whether it's sarcasm or not, I'm pretty positive it isn't helping advertise the forum.

Flip, you aren't making Fathom seem any more desirable to apply to either, assuming that people are bitter because they can't get in. Don't try and forget about those who don't want to join your forum, but feel the need to express their opinion anyway.

I love how everyone is referred to as "Fathom members" rather than their own user name.....like they're part of some elite faction.

 

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ all that there is needed to be said I'm not a private community member there and I don't plan on applying It's just a group that thinks they are very good and trying to seperate themselves from everyone else.

Do fathom just make 'tags'? And if so how do they make money of tags? Do they only accept sig designers or do they except template designers aswell?

They make more than just tags. Everyone's opinion seems a little off from the relistic truth about fathom. Some people take what they have heard from the people that dont get accepted from fathom and they say "Oh yah they suck, totally biased" and the people looking at fathom but not trying to get in are saying its just a group that thinks they are better than everyone else but thats just not the case. Fathom is a nice community of talented people and only accept people that they think have more talent than the majority of designers. They encourage people to just stick around and keep on trying, they don't shun people and say you suck go away. Some of you have it all wrong.

Who said I was advertising the forum? Or making it any more desirable to the people here? I'm pretty sure Fathom has already milked the GR lineup for what it's worth and no other designers would be good enough, I wouldn't want to advertise here.

I refer to the community as "Fathom members" so as to not list each and every single username registered. Just as I would refer to every here as "GR members" or likewise for any other forum. You are severely overanalyzing my words.

And to those who assume Fathom is to get away from beginners, I'll go ahead and take the liberty of confirming that. God forbid the idea that some people want to look at a showcase forum with pieces worth looking at. I'm not knocking GR for paving the road for up and coming beginners, but there are specific forums for specific interests. Fathom is not for learning.

I'm not trying to make this a debate, I'm just stating my opinion on the board. Seems like from what you just said, it's not a community welcome to everyone, just people who you guys find "suitable" to hang around. Just seems a little bit uptight, especially for a graphics community.
