I'd like to thank all the people so far that actually gave me a good list and suggestions on improving performance and saving money. I'd also like to point out that € = euro I'm not spending 3000 pounds (£) on a computer lol. The reason why I'm getting the best and most expensive gfx card and cpu is because I am already using the same computer for 5 years. And as far as I remember it is the only thing that I got from my parrents for the last 5 years lol. I will probably be like 21+ before I'm getting a new pc. I have never been able to play new games on full detail with all settings open, and for once I'd just like to go to the store, buy the biggest graphics wise killer app and play it on full detail without any trouble. If I buy a mediocre pc now and upgrade everytime the parts I want now get cheaper I'll be wasting the same money without ever having the best. You should understand lol. A lot of people are trying to save me money by suggestion cheaper solutions, but my parrents are paying for this, and they are willing to spend that much money. I don't want the smartest thing to do, I want the high-end thing to do.
You relize my build is far from mediocre? It is about like 149582354 miles away from mediocre? Sometimes you have to factor in price and preformence, not just burn all of your parents money. Whats to stop your parents from giving you 2000 for your computer, and then you get the left over cash? If you have any core 2 duo, 2gb of ram, and an 8800gtx/gts, you'll be able to play every game.... for a bit.

If your parents won't take no for an answer then I suggest you use it to save for a new mouse mat. Seriously though - you are just throwing money away if you build either of these computers. Save the money for later upgrades - you'll thank us afterwards. EDIT: Oh you'll probably want an optical drive as well. Damn... Well then I suggest you swap the case for a cheaper one + a decent dvd drive.
lol at idiot who expects build to last 5 years... 5 years ago the best system for that price would have been 1.0GHz AMD athlon @ 1.2GHz 256mb DDR 266 RAM nVidia GeForce 2 Ultra Card with 32mb RAM Santa Cruz sound card 20GB harddrive best system in 2001 for around 1500 800MHz AMD athlon @ 1.1GHz 256mb sdRAM GeForce 2 with 32mb RAM 20GB harddrive best system from 2.5 years ago for around 1500USD/euro Athlon 64 3700+ @ 2.6-2.8GHz GeForce 6800GT or ATI x800XL 1GB DDR500RAM 160GB harddrive trusty me when I say this, two cheaper, yet compareable systems every 2.5 years is better. Or atleast a major upgrade at year 2.5 future proofing is impossible and pointless. you get horrible bang/$ as you move up. A x6800 costs $1000, an e6700 costs $530. There is about a 10% performance gain at stock and if overclocked to the same level, the 6700 would win because it would run at higher FSB. same goes for RAM. 2GB high binned corsair dominator RAM might get to 1200-1300mhz with decent timings, but a kit which sellls for less than half might get to 1100-1200mhz same timings. With you're RAM at 1:1 or even 3:2 that's still pretty damn high. Plus around half the the Dominator Kits use PROmos chips which just anal F's you all over... Then there is the graphics card issue A GeForce 8800GTX will become obsolete the same day the GeForce 8800TS does. That day will be the dsy microsoft releases direct x11 and you're screwed. again, you get diminishing returns as you spend more and more. PCs are a luxury item for the most part and are priced accordingly. A $200,000 farrari driving on a freeway with a speed limit of 60 miles an hour(100KM/hour) won't get you to work any faster than a $6000 cheep jap car(especially if you overclock - I mean break the speed limit) just keep all that in mind.
That just about sums it up in one there. Parts in this price range are designed for maximum overclocking - yet there's no great point in overclocking because they're already fast enough to not so much as break into a sweat when playing the latest games. At this price range it isn't at all easy to produce a build without buying ridculously overpriced parts (unless you use a server board and that is just excessive).

Yes, but everything you will hit the startup button of your pc, believe me you won't heart anything BUT the HDDs, they make hell ofalot of noise. 2x 320GB in raid also gives more spaces and the difference is small. I suggest going for the Asus Xtreme Striker motherboard, 4GB ram and 8800GTX, if not one then 2 GTS . Tuniq tower CPU cooler, antec lanboy case. As you live int he Netherlands, I can help you selecting a goodshop and the parts. Ofniet toch ?
