go DDR3 over DDR2, it's cheaper and better now...
go for an AthlonII over a Phenom I

also unless you've spent $$$$ on your headphones/stereo equipment, don't bother with a sound card.

the Phenoms are overclocked @ 2.8Ghz

ill have a look at DDR3 now

edit: i remember why im getting DDR2, cos its part of a bundle.
might sell em though and get DDR 3

    hows these:
    Patriot G Series 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel
    under £90

    is the power supple ok?
im not too bright on what power supply is best for a system

That power supply will be fine with 5770 and like xlink said if your not using some really good headphones/speakers dont worry about a sound card.

you don't HAVE to go DDR3, it's not much better in terms of performance.
it's just that it uses less power generally costs the same and will likely be easier to deal with in the future. Also, AMD is ditching DDR2 support with their new processors so if you're ever inclined to an upgrade you'd have to replace everything other than just the CPU.

looks good for mid-level gaming. Wow and most Steam games will run smoothly...but I wouldn't try anything super hardcore

Video cards these days are well ahead of the curve. You should sit tight for at least a few years without encountering a game which wont run at a decent resolution.

awesome guys thanks for the help, ill ditch the soundcard that'll save £40 ($60)
yea i was told not to go for the latest graphics card cos the ones that are a lil older are just as good at running games for now.

ill see about DDR3 but moire than likely wont be upgrading for a while after this is up and running.

ooh one last thing, should i stick with the 19" or do like my friend says and go for two 22" monitors (iv got room for them, just means i have to move my printer)

I would go with the latest card you can. I just wouldn't get the most powerful. There IS a difference. The latest one would be the 5770 which is what you chose.

as for monitors it depends on what you want really. I don't really worry about size, I worry about screen resolution and image quality. I'm running two Dell 2005WFPs. My old Dell e207FPW had crap color reproduction. Same size, same resolution.

my suggestion for a 22" monitor would be the Dell 2209WA.
