i wanna stick with the asus board but does the dfi board have all that advantages i am going for the g kill ram i am now going to look up on the operton processer Merged Post: budget is 1500
i saw that i think i might stick with the 48oo proberly overclock it to 2.6 is that ram gkill ram compatiable with my asus board
nope... Fx62 speed... did I mention that the FX52 won't be realeased for a while. and yes, if you don't OC it's a bit pointless to get an opteron, bu if you do they offer a lot of bang/$ I personally am hoping to get my opteron 165 to 2.4-2.6ghz(which shouldn't be a problem) when I get it... on top of that, at 2.4ghz it would perform identically to the 4800+ at stock while costing less than half as much. as for the DFI SLI-DR or ultra-D, they have pretty much every feature under the sun, they have about the best BIOS out there and the best chipset. That ASUS board is compareable, and though it's BIOS isn't quite as good, it does have the advantage of supporting an FSB over 300mhz, if it's worth the 60 or 100$ to is another matter, as even with a limit of 300mhz on the FSB you can still get an opteron 165 to 2.7ghz and the 170 to 3.0ghz, though at the 3.0ghz point you'de likely want to invest in water cooling, and even 2.6 is more than sufficient
Yup grab the DFI Ultra-D. It is better than the ASUS. It also has the best sound of any motherboard and there is certainly no need to buy a sound card with it unless you have a bose system or something. For a case and power supply, do not get a colour led case as it will get annoying. I recommend an Antec tx1050b, i have one and its the best case with psu around. Big and sturdy, low noise, looks great and has an good psu, Antec 500W SmartPower II.
I agree, my one is glowing a huge amount and it gets annoying. at elast at night. Luckily, one of the front ones isnt working and the side is blocked off However, I'd reccomend either goin blue with speakers. keybord and computer like me, or just get orange leds. those are the ----...or multi colored...ooooohhhh
thanks for al the advice i might spring fot the dfi board cuz its a lot cheaper and has great reviews
