okay im thinking about building my own computer soon to save some money and get hands on stuff but i got a few questions 1. when buying parts what if i forget like 1 or 2 parts? 2. how can you tell they are compatible together 3. do i need to buy nuts and bolts; that kinda stuff 4. do i need to buy the OS? 5. what if i screw up 6. if the parts are too big and wont fit inside the case 7. i dont know NOTHING about cooling and that fan stuff rewards for answers
1. when buying parts what if i forget like 1 or 2 parts? You wont. You can tell us a budget and we will tell you whats best to buy. 2. how can you tell they are compatible together We will let you know. 3. do i need to buy nuts and bolts; that kinda stuff They come with the case and motherboard. 4. do i need to buy the OS? Yes unless you want to get it via other means. 5. what if i screw up Its pretty hard to. Only at the heatsink application is it any hard. 6. if the parts are too big and wont fit inside the case They will be fine, you should get a big, well ventilated case anyway. 7. i dont know NOTHING about cooling and that fan stuff I doubt you will be overclocking so stock stuff will suffice.
1. when buying parts what if i forget like 1 or 2 parts? Then order them if they are major parts. 2. how can you tell they are compatible together ...we can help you with that. BUt make sure that powersupply connections are the right pins for ur mobo, and the socket is right for cpu/mobo etc. 3. do i need to buy nuts and bolts; that kinda stuff it should come with ur setup 4. do i need to buy the OS? Yep. There are ways around that, but I havent found any that work too well for me . To go for a legal free one get Linux. 5. what if i screw up Matters on exactly what you mean... But dont worry. I made my first build for christmas this year. I never installed anything in my pc before except for a new floppy drive, and i was even directed for that (was in school nd did it for a teacher) 6. if the parts are too big and wont fit inside the case Highly doubt it will happen... 7. i dont know NOTHING about cooling and that fan stuff no problem. You might not even have to buy anything extra anyway unless you want to. Your case should come with enough fans and the cpu will come with its own fan. Ok..thats all
thx guys [+] rep for both but for the missing part question its like the small parts like they are not MAJOR but just things that run it together and one more when im buying the parts do i just post what parts im gonna buy here in this forum or?....
Newegg is very reliable and fast if you order from them, but whatever you do, do NOT order from best buy, they are way overpriced and are very slow(online), unless u go to your local bestbuy and find a sale.
There isn't too much you could forget..case, motherboard, power supply, CPU, audio card, video card, hard drive, additional fans, optical drive (CD or DVD). Bleh, I'm a little tired, but I think that's it.
you can post what your looking at here, or if you need some where to get started, post your budget and your general uses for your computer (gaming, graphics design, general browsing)
i dont have that tight of a budget but its kinda like.....1300 canadian....and im not sure about buying online but ima try and get paypal on my debit account >D
Getting a hard drive isnt too bad from best buy, after the 16 rebates it comes out to a pretty good price.
mate just do this: set a budget, get alll the ---- u need: cpu, motherboard, vid card... etc etc then once ur done with that use the leftover money for the ---- u dont rlly have to have, new case, cooling, sound card, extra ram...
you cant use paypal on any of the decent websites. I recon they would take direct debit. Anyway heres my shot, for general use plus some gaming: CASE - Antec Sonata 2 w/ 450W Smart Power II: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=Sh...7291&cid=CS.664 Motherboard - ASRock 939Dual-SATA2: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=Sh...9329&cid=MB.693 Processor - AMD X2 3800+: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=Sh...675&cid=CPU.611 RAM - Corsair Value Select 512mb (get 2 of these): http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=Sh...463&cid=RAM.178 Video Card - ASUS 7900GT: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=Sh...603&cid=999.243 Hard Drive - Seagate 7200.9 250GB: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=Sh...09272&cid=HD.96 DVD-RW - Benq DW1650: http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=Sh...9402&cid=CR.184 TOTAL: $1280.96 Perfect, there would be no need for extra cooling, You can chuck in a better psu if you want, but that should suffice.
