wtf are you guys talking about grounding your self or only cool people use soldering irons? 1. He wont be useing a soldering iron, so im not sure what your talking about 'ground' yourself. 2. You don't have to be 'cool' to use a soldering iron, you just need to know what your doing.

grounding yourself means static travels through to whatever you touch so you dont fry the chip with static.

I'm not surprised that the guy bragging about a PD 2.8ghz doesn't know ---- about electricity.

well im sorry i norally i dont worry about that since the humidity in the Florida is normally 60%+ and i always where socks and cotton is a bad conductor of static electricity. please xelink, dont mock me.

    humidity doesn't matter that much.

think bout it this way.. have you ever rubbed yuor feat against the floor to shock them? has this happened accidently?

now imagin having that happen and your expensive components being fryed. Touching the metal part of the case and continuing to hold it with one hand or wearing a grounding strap can advert 99% of that.

i wear socks, so rubbing my feet would do nearly nothing. rubbing my hands on the carpet is a different story.

you realize that people do experiments demonstrating static electricity with socks right? you also realize that electricity flows through an entire obsect and easily escapes through you hand when youa ccumulate enough?
