I have seen this question on alot of gfx forums and thought id ask it here. Is using other peoples brushes or even making a brushed sig for begginers? Do you have to find another way to make sigs to evolve and get better? So simply Brushing = Noob ?
Really depends on how they brush. If they just brush, throw on a render and text.. yeah that's 'noobish.'
No. Just because the technique is easy to do doesn't mean your a noob. Just as long as the overall outcome it good. I've seen some sigs with brushed backgrounds that look just as good or better than c4d and filter sigs.
Using brushes for a background=Noob Using brushes for other things, like clipping masks and lighting=Cool 'Nuff said.
lol. If you make a whole background out of downloaded brushes, then thats horrible. But, if you use downloaded brushes for after effect, and touchups (like splatter for some effects) then that isn't too bad. It's funny how the people who use brushes to make a background try to give themselves excuses as to why what their doing isn't bad.
The brush is a good tool... But just straight brushed backgrounds with a text and render isn't good. I like to use all the tools. Clone Stamping smudging its all good.
YourClone is right, brushes are one of the tools to make a sig - whether its nooby or not. We need to use brushes for so much things. But like what almost all of the people replying on this topic said, if its just plain brushing for the background and pasting a render on the sig, its just plain noobish. --andeh.
