Ok this calls for another quick explination ^_^ Programs when installed insert registry values, extra DLLs and bits a pieces into the windows file now most instaltion programs do a fairly good job of cleaning up after themselves but they do leave bits a pieces of junk on your computer which sit and slow your computer down, it is recommended that you should just reformat the OS partition every once so often (obviously backingup your data as required) and reinstalling windows this should give you a nice clean canvas to work on and improve performance to keep you computer "healthy", along with regular virus/spyware scans and deleting any unused programs. Im running a 2600+ AMD Athlon XP it used to be able to boot in a few seconds but now it just chugs along slighly slower that it used to. This is the typical behavior of windows also if you have a fast hard drive (High RPM) windows will boot faster because the data is accessed faster, you can also boot windows in 4 seconds with Gigabyte's I-RAM module which uses RAM as its storage [sensitive] medium.
When I say "boot up" I mean, the screen are stuck for a long time at the <Windows-flag loading-menu>. Before I can log into a user. Yes, I am using a home-network. I got my internet signals from a router downstairs. I've just complited a scan with Avast: Zero virus found... But! I do find some spyware with search & destroy. I got 47 processes running after startup. Thx for all answears. I'll take a look at em' all. Plz look at my info over, maybe is't better to solve my problem then
I can't really tell you what to do, maybe it's a virus try going through your virus program and see or do what I do, get a new computer  , if you don't want to make the sacrafice then go to a computer specialist wherever yo live, by the way your pc specs own
his computer is fine... he doesn't need a new one. it's just a software problem, not hardware... if you can back up all your data, I would suggest a re-format. If it lags like hell, and virii scans or spyware scans doesn't fix it, the next best thing is just to swipe it clean. I doubt is is a Virus... Avast is pretty good.
I've got 26 programs running when I've closed anything except the essensial programs. Some more on my other comp because of Norton Internet Security... (lagz0rs program...) EDIT: damn pressed, the post button... anyway. If you format the drive, the system dump/trash or whatever you may call it, is removed. most of the time that system dump causes the crashes on a comp. Just backup anything that you will still need in the future. the program WinBackup is a easy thing to backup things with. It's freeware (under version 2. I believe the free version was 1.86).
Correction you have to wipe the drive clean then re-install or you can just repair your windows installation without cleaning out everything you have on there.
ok Mr. Technical... Reformat = wiping the drive. you'd want to install windows after formatting... unless you want a dumb computer.. Repair = just wiping the system files and re-installing them. not always the best way, because if there are virii or spyware on your computer, a repair will not fix it.
Lol I'm no techie just a guy who reads a whole ton of PC mags every month thats where I aquired most of my know-how... Well you should always I've it a try if it doesnt work backup your stuff re-format the windows partition and re-install windows ^_^
I think its network drivers. As I currently have the same issue too. Worked fine before my reformat its just I cant find the drivers for my 5 year old network card so im going to reformat soon too. I'm not very good at keeping my pc running clean, just everyone elses lol.
i also think its drivers because thats all i can think of that i changed recently and i haf same prob
