Once again, I get the blue screen... I fixed it for about 2 weeks, then today, it only happened once.. I fixed it by taking out the bad RAM of my comp.. I've tried Reofrmatting I've tried Taking out the bad RAM I've virus scanned and spyware scanned. ( Don't know if that's going to help.) I don't know why my dad just doesn't get a better computer.. Now keep in mind that the blue screen hasn't happened once in two weeks.. Can it be from Over Heating?? Anyone have any suggestions or how to fix it?? I don't mind it doing it once, but in the future when i'm doing something important, I don't want it happening, so I want it completely gone. Oh, and also, My computer was on sleep, and when I turned it back on it does it..
Try checking your event viewer. See what the error was when this happened. Every error XP keeps a log. Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>Admin Tools. Maybe it won't help. Maybe it will narrow it down anyway.
Did you install something just before you started getting the BSOD's?? If so, system restore to just before you installed the prog and see if it still happens.
Try opening up the system and clean up the CPU heatsink. Make sure you have enough air circulating in your system. Check to see if the fans are working properly. Get a temperature reading of your system running stuff on it. Have you tried doing CHECK DISK on your HD to see if there's any bad partitions? Maybe you have bad drivers, check for updates. Just do the basic troubleshooting steps then move from there.
Try to get us the code or at least the file thats causing it... should be right under technical information.. something like this: 0x87654321 (random sequence there)
that has happened 2 me quite a few times but i was not doing anything important wen it happened so i think i ws lucky
Um, ok well, all there is to it is run it and get at least 5 passes i think it was to test ur RAM. (go as long as you can tho, they go for hours and hours, some people do it a whole day.) and see if you get any errors..if you do, well idk what happens, but you know its bad RAM from there.. but it would really help if you do what I told ya, I had the same problem, eventually instead of once or twice a day, it was 15 seconds after bootup... I simply repaired system files (not reinstall windows/reformat, repair.)
