For those who arent as in-depth with the music scene as others, Kayne West (a hip-hop/R&B artist) released a new song called "Diamonds from Sierra Leone", a song whos video is based off the struggle of countries like Sierra Leone, Angola, and Democratic Republic of Congo as they try to harvest and sell diamonds that end up fueling the civil war that is corrupting the African continent. Unfortunately, these "blood diamonds" are whats fueling 4% of the diamond market, along side Canada, Belgium, and several other sucessful companies. Acceptance to the fact that blood diamonds are sought over as being impure has made the international public crave for diamonds from Belgium and Canada for being so pure, resulting in a loss of a major factor in Africa` s economy, which is so desperately needed at the moment. Personally, I think the United Nations needs to put aside the powerful-yet-unpersuading factors like Peace Keeping and Sanctions and work on solving the conflict in these nations at the source. I would love for you guys, my fellow GFX artists/Graphic Designers, to leave input on what is going on in Africa and what we should do.
