Its only in the US, but I know Up here in Canada we also have a day like it called Boxing Day. I guess I just have to wait another moneth before I can get any of the types of deals you guys are talking aboout! Then again I could just drive over the border which is 5 minutes away from my house, but then I would have to pay duties and may not even be worth using the gas!

To all you deprived people who don't get to experience Black Friday... Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. It is the day that almost all retail chains bring in their new inventory for the holiday season, and must get rid of their old stock. So they mark it down to insanely low prices to get rid of it as quickly as possible. To the consumer, this makes for huge discounts and many items are offered as free after rebates just to help clear out the inventory. My friend got a 2GB iPod Nano for $100. Insane stuff.
you guys are lucky i got no money to buy like 500 dollars worth of crap after thx giving wich is like a couple hundred there to make the dinner

BF is pretty much right. And they call it "black friday" because it's traditionally the day when retailers go from an operating loss (in the red) to a profit (in the black). I haven't bought anything yet. =x Probably gonna try to grab something a few days before christmas cause I'm that lazy haha.
