swap the CPU for an e6750/q6600 and the board for an abit IP35 or gigashyteDS3R and that build is gold. Also consider adding heatsink. Case is good but the vanilla P180 is better bang/$

FYI I'm anti-OEM on all systems over $500 if being used in a typical desktop enviroment(if you're in a buisiness and need 300 units fast and you need them identical well then...)

    I wouldnt go for OEM...
OEM is for buisness comps and laptops,
My comp will still annihilate ANYTHING form alienware AND it only cost me round 5k
but if ur lazy, and ur filthy rich you cant beat the sheer laziness of buying a pre overclocked and tuned to the max system from one of the "designer: computer stores ppl have pointed out
(PS: build ur own its more fun :D)

Oi! I take offence at that lol, but then again I got a Laptop...

If you need a Desktop building your own is the way to go, never buy a desktop from Alienware, Dell XPS, Voodoo, FalconNW, etc.
If you don't want to build your own then buy a decent PC and add a decent GPU

Iv'e heard many many problems with alienwares, I read in the public newspaper a while back that someone ordered a top of the line alienware laptop and it overheated all the time, support wouldnt do ----, and he couldnt return it. Also have you seen that article of someones alienware pc that a powercord was on the cpu and it was overheating? If I had to get a OEM, go with Voodoo all the way. Probably gonna get one of thier standard desktops to run freebsd for once. From what I've seen on the alienwares site, the WC system is ----. It some crappy Koolance low end system that uses alniunm (sp?) in thier look which will eventually cause corrusion. Also using crappy memory which dell started using and now alienware uses it. Falcon Northwest just dominates alienware. Also just saying most people who buy alienware know nothing advanced about computers.

I bet you that what I have right now cost less and is in most things 50-200% faster.

the problems are over exagerated. it's because it's a company which founded itself on quality and any F' up will cost you. FYI alienware does seem to be going the way of dell. Mass produced and slapped together with reduced quality controll. The systems are still somewhat solid, but for what you're geting the price tag is horid.

For desktops nothing beats a nice LianLi case, an Intel Q6600, and an 8800GTS, best bang for buck for miles.. I haven't followed the OEM desktop market but nothing stood out to me that competes with a homebuilt Desktop, in Laptops however the Arima W835-DI (Alienware m9750) does rule the all all mobile parts market (The Clevo D901c fielded by Sager, HPVoodoo, FalconNW, Blackhawk etc. uses Desktop CPUs and are 13lbs and 2.5" thick so not a laptop in my books) until nVidia can come up with a 256bit DX10 card

well as long as your happy that's great. TBH if I knew less I'd be happier with lesser systems. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. Being a computer enthusiast can be an expensive hobby,

Well there's always the badly laid crappy beige cases lol, what I'm talking about is how well they're laid out, good airflow allows good OC'ing wich is where you get your bang ;) plus I can get em pretty cheap compared ot US prices
