isnt sharing accounts illegal in the first place?

    I don't think so.

Yes, I remember you telling me that.

Basically, Algrean was using Pixelated's account to sell his tags instead of his.
He than used his own account (Algran used his real account) to raise the price of the tags. Therefore, Pixelated shouldn't be at fault.

    1. I don't think PP needs to provide any more "IP proves" any further. He already said Algrean used his account to start the auction. So obviously, the 2 accounts will be logged with the same IP. IP does not lie.

    2. Did PP authorise Algrean to login to his account to start the auction?

IMHO, it juz goes down to a couple of things

    1. Is it legit to share accounts? (I don't recall seeing a rule against this)

    2. Can the auction starter bid on the same auction? (be it if they use the same account or not)

    3. Generally speaking, there is nothing much GR can do to stop people from asking friends to bid on their auctions. There will not be any proof if they are on different ISP. This is often done in Ebay. Can this be stopped? Unfortunately, not ...

Having say that, perhaps GR need to look into the revising the rules. Until then, perhaps PP should get his account back.

    my 2 cents :)

This is, however some what incorrect ( sorry, im not trying to be an ass just pointing somthing out. ) Edit: Sorry, forgot a bit of info :p , This is correct in that: Your IP is not tied to your forum account. The IP on the forum account is simply the IP you connected to the forums with.

Your IP is generated by the ISP based off of your MAC address on one of 2 things:

Your router, or your cable modem.

If the user is running a router, he can simply obtain the MAC address of some one elses router and use the MAC clone feature to apear as that person ( IP wise ), and your MAC address is the physical address of the pice of hardware ISPs and other things use to identify you. However, in order to get the MAC address he would have to have either direct access to the routers admin panel, or physical access to the router itself ( the MAC is normally printed on the bottom, atleast it is on my linksys ). You cannot obtain the MAC address of the persons modem // router via the internet, you will only see the MAC of the server it was last bounced off of ( such as: you would see a routers MAC that the connection went through ( such as an ISP router ) to get to this website ).

Using this method is illegal, and ISPs do not like this and would see it ( due to the fact they have a connection from one MAC coming from one location, and another connection from a different MAC from another location. ). If they saw this, they would terminate their internet service without notice.

Another thing is, if they are on a router, and there are other computers hooked up to it ( such as a home network ), or also wireless. Anyone using a computer going through that router would appear to have the same IP as anyone else on that routers network. This is why one should ALWAYS use secure wireless.

Now, weather or not this happened here i cant say, im just pointing out facts, and i cant say weather or not he did it. But given the fact some one would have basically:
    A) Hack his wireless
    B) Gain physical access to his router to be able to get the MAC ( most router admin panels, if configured correctly dont allow remote connections ).

I highly doubt the IP could be some one else, unless he has a brother who uses a different computer and knows his account info ( or just knows his account info ). And to my knoledge, other than 2 people happen to be using a proy server to connect to this website, the 2 methods above are the only way i know of some one could have the same IP as him.

And yes, you shouldnt give others your password.

The USB device connected to your comp is the adapter, the router would be some where else in your house sending a signle to it, it would also be bigger. You might want to check that your wireless is secure.
