Loads of people are selling tags from 'famous' artists and are getting loads for them, even though a lot of them IMO aren't that great.

    How come?
And how do people get the tags in the first place

People get the tags either by buying them or knowing the artist in question.

And people get a lot for them because in this stupid new GFX world it's the name of the artist that counts. I think it's a joke. I'm selling some amazing tags and getting hardly any bids for them, but soon as someone says ZOMG ROGUE, or ZOMG ACOLYTIC, or someone else... BANG, binned at 1.5k straight away.

Yep, at this point it's not the actual piece that sells, it's the name of the creator. :|

It seems like if that artist is ok, then they leave or get banned. They become legendary.

Na Kennedy, most people don't get famous like that (except you xD)

    That seems more like it.

Well "famous" artist are kinda the reason for overpriced tags too, they're also the ones who started that ranking crap here.I'll admit some of their tags are good but the ones lately have been crap.People are just biased because some of those artist come from hard to get into forums and stuff so they think everything they make is awesome.I haven't bought a tag in over a year now because really everything I see in the auction forum is kinda crap.

Oh and they got those tags a good while back when all those "legendary" people were visiting the forum. They probably left because Gamerenders has gotten more strict over the years, you use to could make 5k off of one of those tags from selling the tutorial 200creds each and then sell the psd for FR for 2k.

it's like the rest of the world. just because it's Linkin Park, doesnt mean they're music is good. i hate their new album (walking on thin ice here but i hope you get my point)

and this also shows that different people have different taste

its all down to the style you do and what people prefer themselves that will define if they want to buy it or not.
