This is talking BEFORE their new, extremely bad album. Curse and before. I want to see what you think, possibly a discussion here? Everything these days jsut seems to be automatically considered emo if it has any bit of emotion in it. Song's about love hurting in Atreyu makes them emo. Any of the old songs by other bands like that isnt though.(cant think of this song as an example, o well..) I dont know..I want other peoples opinions.. and anyone listen to the new album at all? I think it totally sucks..
Hmm.. I love Atreyu. Atreyu pre A Death Grip on Yesterday is definately not Emo. The new album? Definately not quality, compared to what they've released before. I think their new album is alot softer than they are used to, which may classify it under Emo.. maybe they're trying to follow Avenged Sevenfold? The only songs I sort of like on the new album are The Theft and My Fork In The Road. The rest? Crap. My vote: No.
My girlfriend listens to them...I on the other hand have no idea what the new album(there is one? lol) is like... All in all, I'm not really into the screaming....not really my type of music. But Atreyu ain't that bad...I listen to them sometimes.. I prefer Alexisonfire though. =P
New album comes out..today I think? But it was leaked on the internet allready...and there was a video that they released, which I must say is their worst yet probly. I really dont like their new album...only song I can listen to is Her Portrait in Black. But thats just..eh.. I havent listened to all the album, like those two songs u listed Mahon.
They've always been crap. And they're not emo. Anyone who says they are have no idea what emo is and very little grasp on musical history.
I agree. I dont know much about how it all started personally, but I do know that it isnt this new thing. I believe it started around the 80's? but it was different then..now its just like a style and stuff...wearing chicks pants, tight shirts, the emo hair, sometimes those thick black framed glasses. As someone who just got into highschool, I meet all the new trends and style and stereotypes. etc etc.... oh but i dont agree that they were always crap but eh, if thats what you think well..thats great
Atreyu is a great band. Atreyu has a bit of emo in some of their songs. I don't consider them emo though, unless they are ugly as hell, dress all black, messy hair, glasses, make-up, cut themselves, etc. Emo bands to me are bands that in like 3/4 of their songs are emo. Atreyu, probably has like .5/4.
