Just a random hope going out here,

If you know anything about this or had this experience and fixed it let me know.

Okay I got me a 1997 Dodge Neon 5 speed. Lately while driving the car it will just shut off. Lights all stay on, stereo still works. But the car goes into electrical mode basically. I'll sit there for a few minutes and the car will turn back on without a problem. If I try just starting it right away, the car sounds like the starter is bad and just tries to turn over but it wont start. But after 3-5 minutes it starts. I don't know why. I've also tried a push start in 2nd gear when this happens and no luck. I was reading on Google it may be a cps problem. I don't got the money to take it to the shop right now. It's kind of embarrassing to be honest. Any help is appreciated.

Yes I know, but I'm a poor college student, I also got a 90 celica gt-s its a beautiful beast.

Anywho, I can't take it to a mechanic I cannot afford that right now.

And I cannot get rid of it seeing how I use it to get to and from work and school =/.

Even if someone on here guesses what it is, you're still gonna need to pay a mechanic to check and repair it, so all you're gonna get on here is some dodgy advice and a bunch of lols.

I know mechanics,, but none are readily available to look at my car right this second. It has 116k miles on it. And I was just hopen for something, never hurts to ask

    Possibly your alternator.

Or maybe even simpler your battery is just old.

And... I was gonna make the "there's your problem" joke. =/

May be the battery, but if it was the alternator, the car wouldn't start back up after it died.
Think my battery is like a year old. I don't remember.

You said it has a hard time "turning over" right?

Just because your alternator is screwy doesn't mean your car won't start at all. Had the same problem with a buick. Had to push it back to the house a block, but I managed to get it started and took it down to my dad's shop.

I say battery. It doesn't matter if its only a year old, they still go bad. I would go that route to be honest, but that will cost you cash, which you don't have.

If you have a car, but not enough money to get even basic repairs, why bother? I dunno what kind of warrant of fitness system you have over in the States, but over here, if the car had mechanical problems to the point it would randomly cut out on you, it probably wouldn't even get a WOF.
