The general idea is heading in the right direction.. way too much "white space".. try sprucing it up a little..

Is it just me or does photoshop only come with a blue and grey color palette? lately it seems so.. don't be afraid to experiment with different color schemes check out http://www.colorschemer.com/schemes/ if you need some inspiration on color.

If you want to go for a simple design like that dont even open photoshop you could recreate that design easily enough using css.

 

Them color schemes are nice, try to use them.
Also try to stop following tutorials, i mean still use them but use everything u've learnt to make something totally different and unique but also nice.
