no an x2 3800+ same price.

The dual core range of amd beats all intel has to offer.
Single core range beat everything in intels range except for video and audio encoding.

intels are better at video and audio encoding than amds single core range, however amds dual core range improved on encoding.

Oh, okay. I audio and video encode on my AMD single core. It runs great. I wish I had a dual core to speed up my encoding.

I don't have the time to build one, I just need to be able to buy the pc and use it right away. Why is the 3400+ so "crippled" to the 3500+? How significant are the differences? I don't need the computer to run video games, I need it basically for photoshop, video editing, media, and internet.

You still need a decent build to do photoshopping & video editting :D

AMD gone popular very rapidly :D I remember 7yrs back i had my AMD Duron haha :D and since then I  AMD

    Now i got AMD64 3500 (939) and its greaaat

Intel > I wont say its crap but its under-performing compared to AMD nowadays

AMD > On a role with their X2 dual cores and even their single cores are rocking :D

it takes less than an hour to put together a pc. the hardest part is screwing the motherboard to the case which isnt hard at all lol.

The 3400+ is a 3500+ with only 256kb cache which will severly slow your pc down. it will be like a sempron. I suggest you build one yourself as it is really easy and you dont have to have any previous knowlege to do it.
