actually the 57 is, but not by a ton. again, the 2.4 GHZ opertron outdoes the 4800+, not by a ton but still. THe FX60 though will surely outperform it, it has almost the same core architecture and is clocked 200mhz higher.
dont get an opteron, opterons are for servers, and will kill ur electricity bill. amd fx 60 is prolly ur best bet as it offers good single thread perfomance and would be a good investment as its the last one for some time, till amd release their m2.
No actually they are Half. Cuz he said L1 cache. The level 2 cache is double fx-60's may be your best bet, although arent they single core?
no point in most cases cost more and are slower. have same L2 cache as 4400 and 4800's. I doubt he will be overclocking so there is no need, they only BLEW (yes I said blew) x2's out of the water at first production as they were initially made with the best silicon, now quality is dropping off overclockability will drop. The FX-60 is dual core, waste of money though, get an x2 and overclock 200mhz and your on par. But there is no point in going this high in price. I still recommend the x2 4400+ as it has the 1MB L2 cache per core and it can easily be overclocked 200mhz by a noob to be effectively a 4800+, to buy the 4800+ for like 35-40% more is a waste of money imo.
opterons are the best ... get the opteron 175 ... edit... fx-60 IS dual core... Merged Post: if you dont know stuff about comps how about u dont reply ?? first of all opterons use less voltage or same then a64's and 2nd of all , they are not meant to be used in servers but are more performant...
No 2x2.8Ghz processors from AMD eh? I doubt I could get from newegg tho, I can't order stuff online, I'm only 13 >_< If I don't get a 2x2.8 GhZ, then I want a 2x2.4 that I can overclock to 2.8+ GhZ
Theres an opteron that you can overclock like CRAAAAAAAAZY. u can hit 3.0 on AIR!!! hehe. if your interested i'll find the processor.
I chose the AMD Athlon X2 4800+... How many GhZ would I be able to clock that to? Merged Post: When is that going to be in a dual core? And would I need to buy all new parts to be sure it's compatible...
the M2 is gonna be dual core only. but u'll need a new mobo. lol. so if you dont wanna get one, i recommend the 4800 or the fx 60 if your into gaming.
