don't buy an alienware, just buy a load of parts and build your own comp, you can get it for so much cheaper. alienware just charge extra for the name

Custom is the only way to go

    Case from http://www.xoxide.com
    Hardware from http://www.newegg.com

My first custom was from http://www.ibuypower.com but when my dad gets the money I am going to go ENTIRELY custom. Total cost of it is at $2500 right now (damn expensive ATI graphics cards :D)

Also spend some time researching if you are gonna go with a custom, make sure everything you want will work with everything else. There is no such thing as a 5 minute custom computer, the following took me 2 days of research and reviews to come to my conclusions. (Still got to shave off $700 or so somehow, dont know if thats possible

    Computer setup

    Case: Aspire X-SuperAlien Aluminum Mid-Tower (Blue) $99.99 @xoxide
Fan controller: Super Flower Fan Master 4 Port Fan Controller $32.99@xoxide
Second fan controller: Enermax UC-9FATR2 18-in-1 Multifunction Panel (Black) $46.99 @xoxide

Cold cathode: Dual Blue Cold Cathode Kit $7.99 @xoxide
Second cold cathode: Dual UV Cold Cathode Kit $7.99 @xoxide
Third cold cathode: Dual Blue Cold Cathode Kit $7.99 @xoxide
Lazer Led: Blue Lazer LED Light Kit $5.49 @xoxide
Second Lazer Led: Blue Lazer LED Light Kit $5.49 @xoxide

    POWER SUPPLY
Thermaltake Pure Power 480W PSU with Wattage Viewer $84.99 @xoxide

IDE cable: 36" UV Sensitive Dual Device Round IDE Cable $4.99 @xoxide
Secondary IDE cable: 36" UV Sensitive Dual Device Round IDE Cable $4.99 @xoxide
Floppy cable: UV Sensitive Round 18" Floppy Cable $4.49 @xoxide

    Nice research there PHASER8,

To be honest, the only reason you buy an Alienware PC is because you are an extreme gamer or you want to scare the staff at PC World by saying there is a problem with it ("So dude, how do you open this thing?").

They're great computers, don't get me wrong. Their audience, however, evidently has an infinite source of money or stakes in a lucrative oil business (or maybe both?).

I would recommend just buying computer components and putting them together yourself. It's much more interesting (I would say 'fun' but in my experience... well...) and if you have anyone to blame, its the inferior brand quality of your motherboard :)

you could spend like half the money you would be spending for an alienware and get something that can match its specs. at local wholesale shows.

AlienWare sucks and they're over priced. We build our own comps so you could get the specs you want.

Alienwares are not overpriced for what they provide! they give you a legal OS! the best PSUs around at the moment (PCP&C) and top quality componetns, they don't skimp like other pre built systems, and they have great support!

although if you do know how to build a system yourself go and do it.
