    its somewhere in the preferences that you can deactivate using AOL explorer at start, if i actually had AIM i could tell you exactly how to do it, but i choose to use trillian...

    i believe he wants to keep using AIM, but triton has this thing where as soon as you sign on AOL explorer will come up, and if he just disables AIM it wont help him, he just wants aol explorer gone... its changed in the preferences, as i said...

    the only thing in the add/remove is the AIM Triton in general, if you want to uninstall AOL Explorer, you have to uninstall AIM Triton as well... which is fine, I just use an older version of AIM when I'm not using trillian, it runs smoother, may not look as nice, but it runs smoother.

    Triton is a huge memory hog. If you're using it now, just go get an older version, its not worth the extra Memory to have a smoother/sleeker toolbar on AIM...

    You can disable the AIM startup in msconfig without disabling the program..the program will still work. :P *looks at Dementia* Trust me, I know. I've done it. ;)

    START -> RUN -> msconfig -> Click OK -> STARTUP

    Uncheck AOLLaunch, and AOLSoftware -> Click OK -> Restart.

    Yes, but your registry contents will still register the fact that AOL is supposed to have a browser start. That's why I use Trillian... no pop-ups, just good old fashioned instant messenging.

    i think its somewhere in preferences...i guess you'll have to figure it out on there... otherwise you should get trillian because it complies aim, msn, irc, icq, yahoo, and maybe one more and uses msn's emotes. but enough spamming here, gl finding it though

    goddamn, have you people not realized what I have said? Disabling the AOLLaunch and AOLSoftware startup tools will stop triton AND aol explorer from opening up, but you can still open them up later and AOL Explorer will STILL OPEN WITH TRITON. He is trying to make it so that he can use AIM, but it wont use AOL Explorer, its in the flipping properties. If he didnt want to use AIM at all he could just take it off the msconfig, but he wants to use triton and not have aol explorer start up with it and have aol explorer as the main browser for links clicked in aim, its in the preferences.

    Atleast thats the correct answer if im interpretting the question the right way.

    Oh, I took it to mean that he just didn't want it to load up altogether, but still be able to use it. My mistake.

    File -> Edit -> Settings -> Sign In/Sign Out

    Choose 'None' -> Click OK
