I've got this old computer that I'm gonna use for host a Medal of honour server, but I need a better graphics card for it. I have an old MX440 lying around and it's 4x AGP, but the motherboard in the old PC only takes 2x AGP. What I want to know, is can I use my 4x card in a 2x slot?

Usually AGP 4x cards can run in AGP 2x. Just like 8x into 4x.

Are you sure, cause I don't wanna end up with a graphics card that doesn't work.

EDIT: I found this article, but I'd like someone to confirm that I can use a 4x card in a 2x slot

    I thought this wasnt possible, a 8x AGP in a 4x is possible but a 8x in a 2x, I thought your AGP will burn. =/

    a 4x into a 2x is not as dangerous as a 8x into a 2x...

you could just get a pci (not -e) vid card. youre talking about the same same speed between the AGP 2x and the PCI...

Dude, you'll be wasting your time trying to set up any old computer for any game server. Everyone will get high pings and it will waste your bandwith. GL!

It'll be used mosly at LAN's, so the ping will be low.
