I made an LP yesterday, and I must say, I am really loving the outcome.. I think you'll know what I'm talking about if you saw my very first application for AG - that was some pretty messed up ----.

I'm very surprised it turned out so well, but as I said, I would like to improve - with your guys help of course!

My main problem at the moment is.. I REALLY HAVE NO IDEAS!! I usually don't have ideas when I make tags etc. because I just experiment, make some randoms and see if I like the outcome. But for this whole serious LP business, if you don't have a good concept then your work sucks (I think O_O). I'd love if you guys could help me out, give me some inspiration - maybe link me to some of your favourite works?

Some general advice would really help guys, I want to make the most of my stay here at AG this time around. And I'll try to keep it long too!

    Cheers!

If you want help then I shall Grant Your Wish. :shaggy:

What I am about to say might not sound right to you, but it is really the way that I look at my Artwork, start from and end at.

I really don't have any idea before starting any Large Art (You can tell as I have only made three or four). I open up Photoshop and start at a large canvas, say 2000 x 2000. After my canvas opens, I save it as some name (blahblah.psd) on the desktop, and shutdown PS. Then I go for stock hunting on Google, Deviant Art, Previous Pictures that I took, GR sometimes, and on news sites like CNN, Fox News, SF Gate, SJ Mercury, and others. Because these News sites can give you some pretty nice stocks if you know which section of the news to look in. I know it sounds strange but that's just the way My Cookie Crumbles. Further on once I find my stock I place it in my .psd file in PS and then using Adobe Bridge, I browse my C4D Collection and pick out renders / effects that help me match the picture, even sometimes I would just click on a random letter and one c4d will be selected and I'll open it up and place it somewhere on the canvas and play around with it for minutes or seconds sometimes till I find the right place and decide to use it. And the story goes on from there.

See, for me at least, I really don't have a main theme that I start out as. As my Large Piece goes on and develops further, the theme shows up by itself. And same reasoning goes for my tags but in a different way. I know that it is a bad thing to not have a starting out theme but I've never had the problem of not having one and then developing my own afterwords in the future.

Example(s) of my own work on what I mean by randomness and the theme just coming to me out of no where:
http://zainabidi.deviantart.com/art/Time-to-go-Home-88692771 -- You thought that it actually had something to do with the theme of Going Home at night?? but it started out as a horizon background that I have and a C4D Placed on the horizon. It went all from there and the title just came to me once I was done. I didn't think about going home during the part when I was actually doing the piece.
http://zainabidi.deviantart.com/art/Imposs...Battle-63291882 -- Started out as a Battle type theme but was unable to find the renders that I needed and thus created that.
(My Examples aren't the best ones out there, hell they don't even make sense, but at least they are something).

Some of my favorite examples are the following:
    - Tiger Heart -- It is eye catching and the entire orientation is different from our viewing horizon.
    - Trip to Japan -- Simple yet Different.
    - In Japan
    - Madin Spain -- I tried something like that but failed. Though it is the best concept and construction I've seen in a while.
    - Her Silent Silhouette -- If you ever decide to go onto digital painting, this is surely an inspiration for you. It is the best digitally painted drawing (in my mind) I've ever seen. I just love the entire concept.

For more inspiration on how to do Large Art and how to bring forth an idea and a concept, look in Art Magazines, Deviant Art (for sure) and other Graphics Sites that feature Large Artwork.

I'm pretty sure that when you started that LP you weren't going for a death and decay look now were you. (If you were I apologize) Once you found the skull and said to yourself that you needed to use it the theme and you just clicked right? It happens sometimes and has happened to me tons of times.

The LP looks nice with the death and decay look especially when you slap on that Skull with the Bone in his mouth as the main focal. I like everything except the Text and the Blue Monotone Colour that you used instead of Black. The text can be re-done in plenty of ways, if you want help on that catch me on MSN some day and I can help on that (again I am the worst but my ideas work nevertheless).

To me it is not about a particular theme in the start but whatever fits well and catches my eye, I decide to go with that. So far it hasn't given me any bad or worst outcomes but it will one day and that day maybe I will change or something.

I know that my Artwork is probably one of the worst that you guys have seen out there but, if you ask me about it and why it turned out the way it did, I can tell you that from my point of view all my artworks have their own individual meanings to them and that meaning may not be anything to you but to me it is a whole different world. And I know that the same goes for everyone in the world and their creations.

Anyhow, I am trying to fix my wireless connnection as it is going very slow, once that is fixed I'll post up some ideas for how you should do your text and stuff ... :)

    Be Creative,
    Zainx.

    I listen to music.

If you listen to the lyrics of a song you can usually come up with a ton of ideas

    OMG I lol'ed ..haha

Honestly if you want more inspiration, turn on TV and go to the CN Channel and listen to Chuck Norris all day long.

You ought to get something out of that.

    Zain.

Wow, big thanks Zain, I'll definitely take some of your ideas into consideration.. And yeah, I was going for a death sort of feeling for the LP, my only inspiration started with an LP by lucidity that I love.
