Ok, so the one thing about GameRenders that keeps long time members such as myself here, is the General Discussion. I can be honest, that, in the 6 years that I've been around many many different forums, I don't think I've enjoyed myself more around people who think creatively and attempt to pursue their creative beings. That is why I will always view GameRenders as a home and many of you as my friends.

Though unfortunately, we can't take life at such a single-minded view point, as harsh as reality is. And I just wanted to say, that even though the majority of you would be around middle aged as I am [ 17 turning on 18, though i feel like I'm already 21 ], there are people here as young as 11 and as old as 60 that come and share their ideas and their opinions openly. This is what I admire about GameRenders. I know that everyday, all of us go through many hardships in life, outside the world of GR, and it is some of these hardships that shape the person, their character, their weakness. I admit that I am definitely not the only one going through a hardship.

You've probably already heard the already-told story of how a guy became friends with the girl he ends up falling for, so I don't have to go into detail about that. You should know that in an imaginary world, we would all end up with happy endings and so much less grief in the world, but alas, this is reality. Over the course of two years I have befriended, and followed up by becoming 'weak kneed' for this girl that I didn't know prior to sitting next to her in class. It was people like her that you wanted to keep close to you, positive, happy, motivated, a definite close friend for life. Attraction was never the issue, we mutually felt the same way, although we didn't act upon it.

Its this attraction alone, if not dealt with, is the hardship I want to talk to you about. Even though I never took the chance I wanted to, I still maintained this attraction for her, and it consumed me. It became a virus, latching away at me, using me in ways that I would never have used myself. It reprogrammed my mind to make her a 'priority'.

Some would say this is a good thing, making someone as valuable your priority, but I had the wrong sort in my head, I held on to this dream that this priority could manifest itself somehow become the chance I wanted to take. Though this reach for the stars would cut itself short when attraction plays its dangerous game. A good friend of mine, one I had known all my life, had developed the same mutual attraction I had in the past. He chose not to advance because he understood my current feelings, and its people like those that you keep. So what did I do with two valuable people in my life?

I withdrew my dream, let it sink into the black hole in the back of my mind.
I removed this 'priority' label in my mind, only to label them for what they truly are - Friends.

That is the valuable lesson I had learnt today, to be willing to give up those dreams that require too much sacrifice of the wrong kind on your sort. To not make those people 'priorities' that make you 'opportunities' .

    ---------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for reading. Now onto discussion time.
I know there are just over 100,000 members on this forum from all over the world, who have gone through a similar ordeal, or another hardship.
I made this thread, not only for me to distinguish my current though process, but also give you the chance to share something similar, to explain your valuable lessons in life.

    Enjoy.

You sir, need a blog lmao

I would have said something to the girl I was attracted to, you never know.

You learn loads of valuable lessons through life, some more important than others.

    In terms of career path,
Learning how to treat typography is a valuable lesson I've learnt. I've been learning typography for 4 years now
and I am still confused about the difference between ascenders and decenders lol

    In terms of love life,
Kanye West - Stronger, that song funnily enough helped me through my break up after listening to it 10+ times in a row.
She "only likes me a friend" you know the same ol' bs.

    In terms of social life,
Never trust anyone, not even your friends. Heck I don't even trust my parents. A friend of mine who I've
known since I was 2 (I'm currently 20) decided to take my money (£200) and run to Scotland.

    In terms of free-time,
Use the internet, don't make the internet use you. Instead of using the internet to waste time doing nothing,
for example, facebook or myspace. I try to learn something or read something that makes me a better person.

Psh I've recently had a similar experience.
    My 2 cents.

Life is too short to let anything manifest to any huge extent.

Life is simple, its about making choices and moving on.

If you make the choice not to persue this woman because you dont want to hurt your mate the thats your choice but if you truly feel for her, simply removing the " priority lable " wont work and it will eat at you.

Lifes to short, live with no regrets because today might be your last.
