I am relatively new to graphics, and intrigued by C4D's. I see how high the demand is for them, yet I am ultimately unsure of their purpose.

What is a c4d? Also, how would you reccomend using them.

Alone they are very attractive. Though I feel I am missing something by not really knowing how to utilize them.

I have tried to use a few, in the end the result was horrific.

Anyway thanks in advance to all the ->positive<- replies.

well they usually add small detail to sigs that is crucial to get a 'pro' evvect if your gonna use C4D's just alone use smudging or filters ;)

c4d rules man but it depends on what render you use to make it look good.

I rarely use my C4Ds in my sigs, I just use them in standalone pieces on dA.

Usually you'd want to make them not very opaque in sigs, unless you want them to be the object of emphasis.

    I think C4D + Filters/Defaults is the Ultimate Sig.

C4D is short for Cinema 4D, a 3d modeling program made by Maxon; most of what you will see refered to as "C4D" are simply abstract renders created in a modeling program. There are numerous programs out there capable of creating these models, but somewhere along the line those "leet gfx'ers" decided to dub all abstract renders "C4D's"....

As said, many people use them to create subtle effects, or stand alone pieces; common effects are light bursts, beams, sources of light, things of that nature. This can be done by setting them to various blending modes, smudging, layer masking, ect...

While there are numerous tutorials on how to make these abstract renders, I personally would not rely too heavilly on them as so many have chosen to do as of late. Wise use can enhance a piece and make creating certain effects much easier, unwise use can lead to a whored, or generic look faster than anything I know. What ever you're using to make art, mind the various elements of design, and you'll almost always end up w/ a more appealing result.

I was against C4d until recently because me and my friend agreed that using it makes amatuer sig makers look pro, but honestly, things change. C4D is the next thing in digital art and above all else, it looks great, better than brushing in many cases.

I am against Cinema 4D renders that you have not made in signatures all the way.
I am not against you creating a Cinema 4D render as a large piece or using it in your own signature.
