Well, i think were in need of a change to the entry page, the halo dude is getting abit old so.. whats the best render you have ever seen posted? Kazuyas RIP ovcourse. rather than make a topic watch it being closed and nothing done i thought id make a poll so as we can all see the public oppinion heres the current: and this is how it would look like with kazuyas dragon: better, no? it makes GR look alot more profetional and shows what skilled renderers we have in here i think.

hmm.. i dont like the halo one, but i dont like the dragon one. i mean com on? a dragon? is a drong going to symbolize out entire site? now, dont get me wrong here, kazuya is an awsome renderer, but i object to the fact of us using a dragon as the page that determines weather new people come in, or check another place out. but if you guys start using Kazuyas beautiful render, i wouldnt argue.
If Llamaman decides to use it, it would only be there long enough for the new GR V2 contest to start & end.
Keep it untill GRv2 comes around... Then we'll have to change it.. but its a nice change...Always nice to have something new to look at and they are called splashes

Not everyone renders images and that would only make the competition for a select few and not really fair to the entire community. If a contest is to be held, any render and artist is eligable to submit their entry as long as the render is not against any of GR rules.

[/b][/quote] But then that sort of kills us renderers chances of winning... I mean - take the GR Banner for instance. MaynardSTOOL made that/won with it. From whut I can remember, he was a graphical designer whom didn't render much/at all. If you let the compitition open to anyone, us renderers will have a extremely slim chance of winning... Anyone can just take anyones hard worked render, shove it on a BG/Splash, put some text and submit it. Sure that sort of contradicts my initial comments, but you know whut I mean. I think it should only be left to the renderers for the reason that we rendered the image... It wouldn't be left to a select few either, they'res about 70-100 Renderers on GR, I think thats enuff for a competition
I'm not sure what your trying to say. Its a SPLASH, not just a render slapped on the background. Thats just the style(pixel stretch) that won last splash page contest.
It is a graphics competition not a render competition. SOTW is made by everyone not just renderers, the banner was the same way, why change this one? We can also get more entries to choose from so their is a better chance of getting something worthy of showing of GR when people come to the site.
