I have been noticing my 780i hitting temps close to 80c so i read about a simple modification on how to fix it by cutting away some of the foam on the heat sink so there is better or any contact from the die to the heat sink. I was wondering if any one has done this and what kind of results they have received from doing so. -Thanks Plantersclock
I presume you mean the heatsink's on the north and south bridge, if you do remove the pad make sure to replace it with some decent paste, AS5 for example.
Your 780i is running that warm? Thats not at all normal for a 780i board. Are you overclocked on anything?
I'm overclocking the cpu to 3.35...Yes i am using that clip on fan but its pretty crappy. I was planning on buying a 60mm and putting it on there and i might just buy some paste and see if it changes anything and if not ill cut the pad.
