Question 1: I currently have 1024 MB Kingston (2x512) DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM. If I eventually want to upgrade to 2 Gb of RAM, can i just buy the same thing i already have (2x512...) and have 4x512 (of the same kind of ram) or do i have to/should i, buy a 2x1Gb kit? Question 2: Does the resolution of the screen affect performance? (not while gaming). Like does 1024x768 have a faster respond time than example; 1280x1024?
the resolution should not affect the screens physical output. higher resolutions however are harder on your video hardware and might affect the input into the monitor(in terms of frame rate) as for RAM, assuming yoru baord has 4DIMM slots, no reason why it shouldn't be able to assuming it's a standard board.
thanx. and for the ram though, isnt it better to have a 2x1Gb kit? than 4x512, or does it not change anything..
for the resolution that should not be a problem... but for the RAM ... what you can do is either get 2x1GB or get 4x1GB... 4x512 for a 2GB is good if you have 4 DIM slots... Ask why?...because the more RAM like 4x512 you have is better than 2x1GB because the more you have the more your computer gets choices to split the work into those four DIMS to make it go faster... My brother currently has 4x1GB and believe me his computer is super fast plus it is a quad core processor which I hate because mine is a dual core 2 ... <_< but yeah 4 times 512MEG should be good but it is your choice i guess I have 2x1GB on me laptop and works great Zainu
i searched for the m2n4-sli and got: Dual channel memory architecture 4 x DIMM, max. 8GB, DDR2-800/667/533, ECC and non-ECC, un-buffered memory 4x512 Mb (533) > CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) ????? note to self: getting 2x512Mb of the same ram as i have would cost around 50$ and the corsair 2 gb pack would cost around 170$ whats my best bet?
