get a strip of 512mb DDR400 sdRam, it costs a little more, but if you can go to say 45$ canadian(35US) you should be able to dramatically improve...

then you ust have a ----laod of things on startup disable them, with 768mb of ram that shouldn't be a huge isssue unless you have a lot of things...

you need more ram 512mb should be fine 1024mb better. also, try disabling some services on startup.
who cares, high clock opterons are typically cheaper, even after counting in the additional cost of ECC ram. you won't be finding an fx 59 for 850$

true, but this primarily applies to ram starved systems. 2000 uses maybe 200mb less ram than XP at the most from what I have seen. a fair amount...

depends on if you run your ram on divider and how much time your willing to tweek settings. people are getting opteron 170s to 2.7-2.9ghz though....
