I think probably yes, try using another controller - borrow from a friend maybe? Try that one out and see if it works.
I like v1, the text looks pretty sweet.
The lighting is perfect, the colours and depth also look great. I don't think the text looks bad at all either ;)
Not bad, could do with a bit of depth. Blur background, sharpen foreground? Maybe darken edges with burn tool or b/w grad map on multiply.
