.bin files cannot be run in cmd, they will pop up a window, saying 'open with..' a .bat file will work in cmd...

not too noticeable, its just clearer mainly for DVD movies. I have vga as well, not missing much...
DVI is more clear than VGA you can record off the tv with your sound card if you have the right software and a S-video out, or coaxil (sp?) out.....
to use the file, change it to *.bat (* meaning whatever the file name is) go to start -> run -> cmd (or command) go to your desktop, or wherever...
