I like it, but I'd find a way to make the sprite stand out a bit more.

The blending isn't really working for me. Try reading up on some tuts :P
The halo one is good. The lighting looks a bit too fake for me though :P

You have some nice effects. Just look for tutorials about depth. Remove the text imo.
