It really isn't that hard to use if you hold down your click and bend the line that way so you get a flush stroke going to your next point.
I did do it with the pen tool.

Yeah there seems to be too much on top of the focal without enough emphasis on the focal.
The colors in the backround aren't matching the colors of the focal. Incorperate some more of that deep red and orange. The backround is way too...
Looks great. Maybe a little stronger lighting on the backround to match the foreground lighting, but that's about it.

Yeah, too much light color to tell what's what. It looks very flat. Basically it needs a higher tonal range.
