there should be a port for the monitor and if you want to record from your tv/vcr you need s-video input on the card.

ive always had 7 until i got my new computer. then i got cs until i found out i had the trial. then i just put 7 back on.
custom built is the way to go as long as u have a monitor, keyboard/mouse you can have a computer that runs d3/hl2 for under 600.
