I'd reccomend a GeForce 6200, if you don't want to spend very much and still want to be able to play. nVidia's drivers are much less tempermental...
A not- so -rare problem. Try an older version of the drivers. Happens sometimes with a new graphics card.
I just leave the side off my Case... helps with airflow, cooling, power, etc. Plus I've got easy access to my parts to replace/upgrade/repair....
