Laptops aren't really made for gaming, but I would say buy anything but Alienware. they are way overpriced.

Dell or Sony laptops are pretty good.

Desktops are obviously more powerful... ah, but what the heck, I'm a laptop user myself.

Dells are a very good choice IMO. The stats can be raised quite high once you customize it, and over these 3 years of ownership, I only had two technical problems - one which was just a lightning surge problem.

The brand does not count. Just make sure that the laptop has at least 512 MB DDR and a good graphics chip, usually they have Mobility Radeons for gaming laptops.

I don't know if it's possible on laptop, but try to avoid an integrated graphics card, make sure the laptop has ram potential, make sure that the processer is socket 939, don't get anything else couse AMD doesn't have plans to upgrade the socket 700 series. Of course, I am assuming you are looking for a laptop with AMD 64 as your processer.

Again, I am not sure if these things apply to laptops but they certainly apply to buying desktops.
