I would say smaller sigs are easier to concentrate on the details more than an overal huge sig, however imo I think big sigs loose some thing from what smaller sigs can give and thats how you look at the bg. smaller sigs more detail more to focus your eyes on, large sigs your just drawn to the render and not much else
Sigs look better smaller.. sleeker.. when there smaller, there more to the point.. when there to big,, they usually involve alot of dead space and take the force away from the Bg and render which is where you want to keep attention... Yep....
Rosin...... What's the point of making this topic...? Why are you complaining because people didn't like your sigs? I see the guys point. Making smaller sigs doesn't make you a better designer, but it does take a bit more skill to fit something into it that conveys a feeling better than a larger sig. Neither of those guys really have any room to talk though, seeing as how all they did was crop in-game photos/real photos and slap some text on them. As for your attitude, it ----ing sucks. If everyone on messageboards was like you, and whored bandwidth with gigantic sigs, and never gave a ---- about it, we'd have a serious problem. I think it's shallow as hell that you think people "have their choice of dial-up" and then compare that to an actual life lesson- that's just pathetic. How about you quit being an asshole to those people who can't browse forums and the web as fast as you do? By the way, your sigs aren't anything to whoop and holler over either, so do us all a favor and make them smaller.
I completely agree Maynards' Also, for sig size thing, bigger doesn't mean it's better, since you have a smaller canvas, you need to spend more time making that small space look great, while with bigger sigs, for the most part they end up looking plain due to the amount of empty space. Also, with people on dial-up being their "choice" I understand that a lot of people now have DSL/Comcast, but a lot still do have dial-up, and it's not their choice
Wow, and I didn't start the flame for once, heheh! Alright, if you're all going to ----ing whien, how's this. it's small signatures like these that just plain suck. So little work and effort and so much to see. A larger signature, you can see people's screwups better, if they did. In smaller signatures, it's just 'Ah, ok.' While if you have a larger signature, there will be no room for the eyes to rest. You will be taking in details. Sure, you can get them in small sigs, but most of them you can see it all in a glance, not much fun in that. And yes, it's true. Mine aren't anything to gawk at. I am not saying I'm the best, but nor am I saying you all suck. I admire works here, so many large renders and such small sigs. Kind of ruining the point for dial-up users.
that small sig looks great! If you can fill the big Sigs when more common renders to fill the empty space, I think big or small will look good. ^_^
well some Sigs are not meant to have the whole render in it. The main focus is the render and how the background compliments the render. You don't want to see a big green render with a pink background unless done tastefully ,I don't see those colors clashing well.
...I still don't understand your point, for both spectrums, there's obviously going to be some that aren't as good as others... and, no offense, even if it's small, you can still see flaws if you use Photoshop long enough Oh, and good try trying to make a point at the renders, but that's a whole section that everyone understands has extremely large images, you, on the other hand, can go anywhere you please, and use that large sig anywhere
actually, I was making a point. You want me to remove my 'extremely large sig?' all you had to do was ask, instead of trying to embarrass me.
TUTORIALS WORK WONDERS It just seems to me that you're complaining because you can't fit as much as you do in your bigger sigs- which if you ask me, is a good thing. In your big sigs you have one render that takes up maybe 1/3 of the sig, then the rest is just unblended over-colored brushing with some random tech thrown on. It's now apparent that you don't even know what your argument, or the point of this thread, are anymore.
Unless I'm doing a request for somone, I always use a 350x150 document. It usually turns out better for me if its taller than 100px... I'm REALLY not a very good sig-designer, so I don't think my overall opinion in this will really matter.
