Hey people, at school 5 people of the ICT class have been chosen to make a mini animation using Adobe Aftereffects. Yeh i am one of them. What is Adobe AFtereffects and is it simliar to photoshop? It is hard to use? Also it seems to be a memeory hog casue our school had to install extra 1GIG of ram on 5 computers so we could use the prog on them. (total of 1.5GIGS RAM)!. Just need some background info for After-effects, but most of all is it simliar to photshop? I want to get the hang of it quicker First lesson tommrow.

I was hoping for friendly first hand advice. Anyway how simialr is it like Photoshop, or are they both two very different programs?
No man he is goign to have to use it for a school thing and wants to know if anyone has used it.... maybe find out what it does and then ask at a different forums for that type of work Hardy^
it works in a very different way to photoshop. it is, like the name implies, after effects. it goes hand in hand with adobe premiere which is for video editing. although premiere has some effects, after effects takes this alot further ti create extra special effects. the only thing similar is that it is made by adobe, so menu layouts etc are a little similar, other than that, if u don't know anything about video editing/effects, u got a whole new app to learn!
whoa. souds kind of cool. but i will stay loyal to ps [/b][/quote] it is quite cool, but its not a matter of loyalty. it is for video not raster like photoshop. so if u ever wanna do anything with video involved, you'll have to give photoshop the flick, cause it aint gonna help ya ^_^
Your school must have alot of funding lol at $999 a pop Anywho the main site makes for some interesting reading as are the videos Adobe After Effects
they get a student discount + its cheaper if they buy it wholesale thats how i got my photoshop from school im taking a graphics and design class
OK thanks guys. So instead of using Adobe PRemier to edit videos can After Effects also do video? or can it only add effects to a video, not comile one.?
Ive used Adobe After effects before, its basicly Adobe Photoshop for Videos. I made a pretty neat video title in them once!
