im a total noob when it comes to computers but how do you reformat your comp Its infected with some really annoying visus that i dont know how i got Anyway How do i totally wipe my hard drive clean so i can reintall xp I tried inserting my XP home disc, cause i lost the XP Pro disc, but it says u already got a newer version installed So i have to get rid of XP pro first
Ok, put the disc in and on start up press f12 and boot from the disc. Then follow the insturctions. It will ask you stuff like delete the entire drive and install a fresh copy. Be sure to back up important info
you should probably find the XP pro disc, you can only have on activeted copy per disc at a time unless the disc came withmultiple liscences.
there done I went to activate XP home and i accidently closed it, and now i dont know how to go back to that screen anyone know how to active it, cause its not showing up in the bottom right like when i started up
Just go to My Computer and right click your floppy drive (have a blank floppy in) and make a windows start up disk on the floppy... By going to format and choosin windows boot disk or w/e Boot up with that and type dir/p in the cmd prompt Then run fdisk unless XP is really really gey. (PLACE THE OLD PISSY TOUNGE SMILY HERE!)

Ok wait. Is the xp home the 2000, 2001 or 2003 edition. Meaning original, sp1 or sp2. Cause if it is lower than sp2 and your pc has sp2 installed before you reformat you have to uninstall service pack 2.
