Trillian

What do you think of trillian for chatting? What are some good alternitives or better ones?

im asking this cuz i dont like havgng two different ims up

 

I think trilian is the best, but another is Skype. There was also one, it was like gaim or something, dont remember.

 

Trillian is ok, it takes up alot of my RAM to run, but is very nice to have 5 IMs in one.

GAIM is another one I like. It doesn't hog my RAM too much, and it's open source, and of course free all around. It can do almost as much as Trillian, give or take a few things...

 

in trillian, you cant use aim away messages that you made right? and can the other people see ur buddy icon or no?

 

you can use away messages...

yep, other people can see your pic, too

 

no i mean the away messages from AIM that you personally create

 

unless it saves it on the net, i dont think so. your buddies are saved on the net, but your messages, I don think they are.

I would think they were saved in your computer..

 

trillian is okay. there are a few really annoying bugs though.

for example, you can't paste a clipboard picture when you're directly connected, which gets very annoying.

also, it takes a little longer to load than gaim, or other progs.

it's worth getting though, and the interface is much more attractive than any alternative

google talk is only for people with gmail right? its not like trillian where u can use msn and aim at the same time is it?

 

yea, its only for gmail. wonder why he posted it if you were looking for trillian... odd..

 

trillian is sweet, although i reccomend messing with prefrences, or else its very confusing...

first off, default is, all the messages are linked per program(aim,yahoo,etc) it took me awhile to figure out why my messages were dissapearing

secondly, ICQ is different than the REAL ICQ client, its server database is wrong.....

and last, i would change the sound to make a different one per program...

I had it on my old computer. I thought it was pretty cool. I hate AIM, because it puts so much other extra secret junk on your comp that its hard to get rid of it all. This was a good way to get around all of that.

 

Skype is for voice talking....a free skype user to skype user phone service type thing, correct? My brother uses it, I've only seen him use the voice part, is there even another part that has to do with this thread in it? Lol....



I used Trillian for awhile, then I started only using DeadAIM and XFire, so I stopped using Trillian

 

msn is better ...... way better
