the on thing bogging my start up time down the most would definately have to be CHKDSK also known as Autocheck. so far I have done the following in an attempt to disable it: delete ever registry key mentioning it, rename the file, and run a small program claiming to disable it. It keeps on scanning a partition on my hardrive, other than pageiling and a few folders there is not much on it, also, the partition is only about40gigs in size. could someone help me?
did you try running 'msconfig' (without the ') in run? Also, did you try hijaackthis? (sp?) try those and see what happens...
Chkdsk is a useful tool that helps keep your computer running. My bet is that you just screwed up your computer by fooling with the registry and doing all that other stuff. If it's running when you try and restart, there's probably a valid reason. That's the only time it's ever run for me...
I figured it out, it windows was marking one of my partitions as "dirty" I just deleted it, repartitioned it and reformatted it problem solved.
