    Ok so. I had a eMachines Model T2825, then I broke, I bought a new- Motherboard,Processor,Heatsink, and CD/DVD combo drive and a new case. Now what I want to do is format. I have the EMachines discs but I'm not sure if I use em that I'll damage my HDD? What do I do? :<

    oh yeah, its a A8V Deluxe ASUS Mobo, 3000+ Venice 64bit processor and a case which I forgot the name of .

    just pop the disc in, worst case scenario you'll need a few drivers.

    you can not really damage your hdd, but i dont think your E-Machine disks would work. Its made for E-machine mobos, not Asus. there should be a disk that came with your new mobo. that should have the drivers for it.

    Note: Never get an E-Machine again, they're a piece of crap...

    [edit] you can format with a win xp/2000 disk from the cd.... pretty easy.

    And the only thing crappy about emachines is the cooling. Everything else I found pretty good?

    If your mobo didn't come with a cd , just go to Asus site , they have everything for download, and also do windows update as soon as your up and running.

    to me, when one thing goes wrong with it, the whole thing is a-s-s

    Asus should com with a cd, but as ^ said, it should be on their site.

    Note: the worst combo known to man was an E-Machine and WIN ME.... no comment...

    just use the Win XP disk, it can re-format your drive for you

    When it detects an OS already on there, press 'esc' and you'll see your Window's partition, and just delete that partition, and create a new partition in NTFS.

    2000 will do the same thing. ME I'm not sure of, and Win98 and below only use FAT32..

    Actually, I am pretty sure that anything running windows 3.1 was worse, I even had an old packard bell to prove it... it's in the city dump now though.

    =============================

    emachines are actually pretty good compared to a lot of other things... the crapiest computer known to man definately had to be a compaq, those are pure ----. also the wiring in my moms E-machine is far better than that in the HP I had, plus the processor didn't over heat like the HP, HP was running at 70C, In bios...

    hm... you would need to get a disk in any attempt to reformat it..

    You do realize that you'll lose your data when you format..... so how are you going to put an operarting system on it?

    unless your talking about a secondary drive, thats a different story...
