It's like advertising space in a newspaper.
You pay 1$ to get 1 pixel, for each pixel you buy your logo or whatever is put on there, then people can click on it and they go to your page.

each of those squares is 10 pixels x 10 pixels in size which is 100 pixels total

1 pixel = $1

the minimum amount of pixels you can buy is a square which is 100 pixels which is $100 worth

you buy $100 (100 pixels) and put your site in there
