You might have too many startup programs draining memory

Go to Start menu > run > type msconfig >startup programs > then untick the ones you dont need - like leave the virusscan exe alone but get rid of the other processes say quicktime plugin etc If problems carrys on then post back

There are 10 start up programs running. Also i forgot to mention that a few days ago i went to open a program that was in my D drive and it said file not found or something. And now i go into D drive it says it is not formated.. dont know why that is so i have lost all the programs that were in there. I am using XP. Problem has been for a long time (the crashing ec..)

Print this out before you do it :D

As you said you have 4 drives - The 4 drives will be listed in Step 6

Delete Drive D but note the Drive Size - Then create a partition by pressing C and enter the Drive size of Drive D into it

Then onto Drive C - Delete this and recreate - Note again the drive size - THIS IS WHERE YOUR WINDOWS IS LOCATED - Once recreated it install windows in here and it will start formatting in NTFS (dont select quick format NTFS)

but if you follow this you'll be fine but print the post out before you start it so u kno what to do - Make sure u have the WindowsXP Installtion CD :D If anymore problems contact me

Once Installed you will feel like having a fresh computer - BACKUP EVERYTHING u need :D

Have you had any virus alerts lately?
