    Hear Ye Hear YE!!!!

    Knoppix shall be your friend!!!!

Knoppix be a linux bootable cd! you can go on the Internet and find the file you are missing! or get it off another computer and put it on a floppy, then put it into your directory!

    You shall be spared!

(That sounds a little revolting, doesn't it?)

download Knoppix from your friends computer, burn a disk, save the file you are missing to a floppy. start up Knoppix, put the file in the correct directory from the floppy, restart and all shall be well.

If not, you can use knoppix to back up your hard drive data to cd using its cd burning program

If none of that works, and you still have your reciept, you can take it back and ask to do that at the store. That's what I did ^_^ (If you bought it at a store)

ok i had a similair problem

i took my hd into some computer place and they salvaged everything off the hd and put it onto a new one and then that was just a temp one to use until i could transfer all the files back.

only problem was the the new one worked and they fixed the old one. Turned out a capacitor or something blew and messed it up

Or easier done.. get Microscope. It's a program that allows you to see the binary code of your computer, everything is udner your control. People have even removed trojan's and other malicious programs from it.

knoppix is easy to backup on YOUR computer. Just use it, man. otherwise you'll have to waste gas by going from your home back to your friend's,

^doesn't that program need windows to run? he can't get into windows, my friend... plus, a link would be nice, all i come up with is microscope companies when i google... not even on cnet downloads...
