I have some money in my paypal account and I went to buy something online.

It tells me I need to add a credit card to send money instantly. "...Ok," I thought "I'll just ask my dad."

My dad says, "How do I know its secure and that my credit card won't be charged with what you buy?"

Can someone answer that question by some unbiased personal experience? Thanks in advance. ;)

    Hi R!

I thought that PayPal only wants your creditcard number to prove that you have value, like Ebay, to sign up, if you sign up with hotmail or something, it wants your credit card to show that you can actually buy the stuff. That's my view on it.

That is what I thought. Is there any official paypal documentation that explains just that?

Yea I had the do the same thing. It's paypal so I said okay. I let them do it and it was fine after I did it. I'm not sure if I had to do it but I did and I never got the message again. You get the money back that they charge you to do it. Paypal does not like to charge your credit card for stuff only if you have it setup to do it or tell it to. Also it is very secure.

Once you add a credit card once, you don't have to add the credit card each time you buy something instantly, right?

I dont think so. On my moms paypal, we'v e never had to go to their site after we signed up, and whenever we buy stuff on Ebay, nothing happens.

I believe when you verify a CC they charge $.99 to make sure its real but I think they refund that. I verified a Bank account. Also the only reason that you would have a charge from paypal on your CC would be because you added money to your account.

Paypal only needs your CC for verification purposes and if you cant pay with the amount you have on your account, you pay with your CC or bank account.
