Speacial Rain Effect

ok this is my first tutorial ever so bare with me lol
first i would like to give a special thanks to royalanarchist for giving me the idea to make this
ok so lets get started

this is what it looks like all done


first you will need the plugin called puddler you can get it hear

1. ok now open up the sig or pic that you want to add this effect to in photoshop. i will be useing this one.


2. ok now make a selection ware you want the water to be useing the pen tool like this.


3. now duplicate your image and name it puddle81 and then duplicate it again and name it puddle82 then duplicate it one more time and name it puddle83 now on your main image go to filter - almathera - and click a puddle and use these settings.


4. ok now on the layer named puddle81 go to filter - almathera - a puddle and use these settings


5. ok now on the layer named puddle82 do the same thing but use these settings


6. then on puddle83 use these settings


now your image should look something like this


8. ok now make a new layer name it rain1 and go to filter - render - clouds


9. then go to filter - noise - add noise and use these settings


should look like this so far


10. now go to filter - blur - motion blur use these settings.
angle- 50-60 (depending on how you want it)
distance- 10-15

11. then set layer to screen and you should have this


12. now go to image - adjustment - levels and use these settings


then you should have something that looks like this

 

13. now repeat steps 8-12 three more times name the first rain2 the second rain3 and the last rain4

then your image should look like this

(don't worry it is going to be animated so it will not look so crouded when we finish)

14. now to make it look like the rain is hitting the render what you do is select the pencil tool and reset your brushes and select the 1px brush then so that yourself can see you work click the little eye next to the rain layers (make sure that you have at least 1 one rain layer stil selected)


15. now with the pencil tool draw lil dots and lines around the render ware the rain would hit (make sure the color is white)to see what you are doing better zoom in with (ctrl - +) do not put all the splashes just a few cause we have to put some on each rain layer

do this on all of your rain layers

16. now open it up in image ready to do so click the button on the bottom of your tool bar it looks like this


17. now we are going to have to use those lil eyes next to the layers again so first thing is to only have your main image and rain1 selected all of the rest should not have an eye beside them see step 14 on how to take eye off if you don't already know

your image should look like this so far


18. now duplicate that frame to do so click this


19. now take all the eyes off all the layers exept for rain2 and puddle81

your image should now look like this


20. now duplicate that frame and only have puddle82 and rain3 have the eye next to em

21. then duplicated that frame and only have puddle83 and rain4 have an eye next to em and then we are done
then go to save optimixed and save it

hear is my finished product

how do i install the plugin ino but wen i go to filter theres no almathera

 

I could do it, i made a new directory to the plugins directory and copied the files there.

Anyways nice tut, i will use it sometimes but not now cause i dont feel like animating atm but will do it soon

i didnt get this tut at the start untill i did it the 2nd time lol, but i got the raning animation woooohoooo

 

how u make the line go over the mario leg i try the pen but not working can u tell me how

that was my result, i love it, i didnt do the whole thing with it hitting the render and hitting a puddle but iv been looking for this for so long and i love how it turned out thanks so much
