Has anyone done stoichiometry in chemistry? I would ask people in my class but alotta them are really stupid.. i need to know about Percentage Yield

how do you predict the theoretical yield of a chemical equation?

plz add me on msn or post here... i will pay credz to whoever helps

    percent yeild:

    experimental (what u got)
    \ (over)
    theoretical (the agreed upon)
    *100 (multiply by 100)

the theoretical should be given B)

Targs' right. Percent yield is what you got over what you potentially could have got (theoretical maximum, which as Targs said, should be given).

    So.

what you got (in oz. or gr. or whatever)
    ------------------------------------------
what you could have got (theoretical)

This gives you a fraction but since the theoretical (I'm gonna spell this a bunch of wasy in the hopes that at least one is right) is 100% of what you COULD have got the bottom number of your fraction is like:

    your result
    ------------
    100

so multiply by 100 and you get a percentage.
