    Hey Guys,

I recently went to a local band concert and was compelled to jump on stage, punch the Drummer and take his place..

Well The thing is, I have never played the drums before, I don't have a drum set either..

Im wondering if anyone could help me in choosing a basic drum set to play with, but one that will last me for a while and not a cheap set either..

Where would I start to learn once I have purchased said set..

    So my Questions are:

    1) What beginner drum set can I purchase and use for a while that is under $600
    2) Where would I start to learn?
    3) Any forums where a bunch of people who play drums or other instruments get together?
    4) Any website to help self teach the drums? Is it free?

    Thanks,

    Delta Down

    For music : http://www.tabhall.co.uk/drumtabs.php

To be honest your better of asking for lessons at your school
Do they do drum lessons there? Thats always a good idea and if not helpful check out yellow pages or the internet for Drum Practices near you.

Im playing piano, best thing to do is get a decent one...im afraid I cant help you with names. And practice like 10-20 minutes every day, dont go overboard and do like an hour because youll get sick of it and wear yourself down.

If school doesnt offer lessons find someone out of school that does, go to a music store for directions to someone! :)

Ok, try to find a simple First Act drum kit which is usaly at ur local walmart for a cheap price,

    1) What beginner drum set can I purchase and use for a while that is under $600: First Act drum kit should be around that price.

    2) Well the way i learned, and ive been playing for 4 years, is to just make up ur own beats and rythems i also tryed to learn the drums to some of my favorite songs, but it all depends what kinda drum beats u wanna play

    3) Any forums where a bunch of people who play drums or other instruments get together?: Just google it lol

    4) Any website to help self teach the drums? Is it free?: Again just google it lol

but i do recommend a first act drum set it looks like this

Teaching yourself, you can make up alot of new stuff teaching yourself.

And to say something against agianst the 'Noo, never teach yourself', all I have to say is: Have you ever heard of Jimi Hendrix? He was undoubtedly one of the best guitarists ever, he taught himself and here's a plus, he was a lefty, and played it upside down/opposite.

    Ya.. It's crazy man.

Anyway, I'd suggest a Pork Pie set.. They're not really beginner sets, but they're hella good.
